The High School Social Justice Forum organized by Teachers for Global Awareness is a great opportunity for Windsor and Essex County students to get informed on current events and become empowered to use what they learn in a socially responsible manner in their schools and community. As a teacher I have presented at the forum and have brought an entire class.
From both perspectives I have seen how the forum allows students to become informed on issues that they may have never considered or heard about in a way that is accessible and at their level. In addition, many students also use the forum as a chance to express their opinions and in turn hear different perspectives than their own from students of different backgrounds and cities. It is a true melting pot of ideas, experiences and initiative that can open students and teachers eyes to issues and perspectives. I encourage anyone who can go to experience this one of a kind event to do so.
